Our Residential Program in Vancouver, offered by BCN Sports as official partner of FC Barcelona in Canada and in collaboration with Fortius Sports and Health, will offer a comprehensive training regime which is designed to challenge young athletes and progressively develop their skills and confidence.

The players will train and stay together in a fantastic training facility which has a hotel in the same complex and provides all kinds of amenities.

The participants of our residential program will be taking part in the FC Barcelona training camp during the day, while during the evening they will participate in top of the line athlete development as well as in team building and nutritional workshops. A full physical assessment of each athlete will be conducted on Monday evening, and we will also hold recovery sessions with the group on Tuesday and Thursday!

 

PROGRAM FEATURES

Mornings (FC Barcelona camp)

  • Coordinated and directed by FC Barcelona coaches
  • Ratio of 12 players max per coach
  • Groups are made by age and skill level during the 1st day of the camp
  • 15 sessions per week
  • Lunch and FCB Escola Nike camp uniform are included in the fee
  • 1st 50 participants to register will enter a lucky draw to win an official FC Barcelona jersey signed by a 1st team player (draw will take place the last day of the camp)
  • 2 most talented players that best exemplify FCB values will be selected to spend a week of training at the FCB Escola in Barcelona (dates to be agreed with the families) - BCN will cover the cost of training, 2 tickets to a FC Barcelona La Liga game and 2 tickets to a Camp Nou & Museum Tour, Travel related costs are covered by each participant - 80 players have enjoyed this experience since 2014 !
  • A selection (per age group) of our camp participants will participate in the 2nd Edition of our FCB Escola National Tournament to be held in September (location will be announced soon). 300 players took part in the 1st Edition in October 2016 in Vancouver!

We will run a wide variety of dry-land and on-field tests including anthropometrics and calculation of peak height velocity, speed, multidirectional agility and coordination, aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, upper and lower body muscular strength and endurance, trunk stability, and functional movement screening. Test selection will be done in conjunction with the sport coaching staff to identify the appropriate tests for the age, training level, and team programming purposes.  A full report will be provided to each participant.

When recovery from competition is improved, athletes are able to train sooner and with better quality than when either no or inappropriate recovery practices are completed.  We will offer a recovery session that will focus on proper stretching, lengthening, core and more.

5:30pm – 6:30pm | Athlete Development Workshop

We will offer an educational workshop focused on a variety of topics including warmup/cooldown, sleep and travel habits, long-term athlete development, managing and monitoring the athlete training schedule, strength/speed/power/conditioning development strategies, and more.

6:30pm – 7:30pm | Dinner

7:30pm – 9:30pm | Leisure Time (Movies, Games, etc.)

Ashley Charlebois, Registered Dietitian, will discuss what to eat on a daily basis to keep up with the training demands of a young soccer athlete. She will also cover sport specifics such as what and when to eat before, during and after practices and games for optimal health and performance. Ashley will provide practical examples of healthy meals and snacks, so that you know how to put it into action.

As a result of participating in this workshop, athletes on a team will have a better understanding of the need to work as a cohesive unit to accomplish team goals and will examine their approach to excellence. Topics covered in this workshop include preparing for success, embracing the pressure, trusting your instincts, effective goal-setting, perseverance in difficult situations and leadership skills. Application of these skills to areas outside of athletics is reinforced throughout the presentation.
