Barça Academy Calgary officially opened its academy on 21 April 2018.

Our current 2018/19 Winter Season began on 22 October 2018, and runs for 18 weeks until 16 March 2019.

    Parents are encouraged to add fcbescolacalgary@bcnsportscanada.com to their address book to prevent e-mail newsletters from going into their spam folder. We also ask that parents download the TeamSnap app and follow us on social media through Facebook and Instagram (@BarçaAcademyCAL).

When weather conditions may endanger the health and safety of our participants or impede activities planned by Barça Academy, training sessions or matches may be delayed or suspended. Academy management reserves the right to make the decision to delay or suspend activities up to one hour before the scheduled start time of an activity. This announcement will come via our communication channels.

Unless notified by the academy of cancellation (i.e., thunderstorm, air quality, etc.), participants are expected to attend all training sessions and matches.

Barça Academy Calgary’s players are eligible for two types of scholarships from BCN Sports:

1. Financial Scholarship
In an effort to allow members of the community who are in financial need access to our academy programming, we offer five (5) scholarships that depending on financial eligibility will cover up to 100% of the value of our program.

2. High Performance Scholarship
To reward members of our community who exemplify Barça Values and that excel as both athletes and as students, we award up to five (5) scholarships to players on our High Performance teams that will cover 50% of the value of our program.

Players looking to apply for the financial scholarship should submit their application package to academy management before 15 October 2018.

To provide an open forum to discuss a child’s development and to ask questions about the academy, we encourage parents to meet with our management once per season. These 20-minute meetings take place at either our office or after practice at our facilities, and should be booked via e-mail to our general academy mailbox.

Barça Academy Calgary is an Alberta Soccer sanctioned, two-star academy.

Participants who are currently not registered through CMSA, or an ASA/CSA member association will need to be registered with Alberta Soccer as a member of Barça Academy Calgary (we will do this on your behalf). This carries an age-group dependent fee between $12.00 and $27.30.

Participants who are currently registered with CMSA or an ASA/CSA member association should provide academy management with the name of their club or community team as well as a photocopy of their player card or confirmation of registration.

Throughout the season, we will host several events including opening ceremonies, closing ceremonies, and our internal league competition. As these dates are communicated many weeks in advance on our academy calendar, it is our expectation that all our participants attend these events.

Participants who will be absent for more than 4 weeks (28 days) or need to travel substantial distances may be entitled to a prorated amount. Proof of absence (i.e., airline tickets, hotel confirmation, etc.) will need to be submitted prior to the season to secure a prorated amount (subject to 15% administrative fee).

Credits will only be issued in the event a participant sustains an injury longer than 4 weeks (28 days), or on a case-by-case basis as determined by our administration and finance departments (subject to 15% administrative fee).

By signing up for the Barça Academy program, you are agreeing to pay for the full amount (lump sum or installment plan). If you choose to cancel participation, we must first receive written notice of cancellation via e-mail to info@fcbcanada.com or by mail to:

Cancellations will be subject to the following policy:

  • There are no refunds after the start of the program, unless the participant sustains a long-term injury longer than four months. In that case, we will require a doctor’s note to refund the fees paid, deducting training sessions that the participant has already attended.
  • Cancellations within 1 to 30 days from the beginning of the program will be subject to an administrative fee of $350.
  • Cancellations that occur more than 31 days from the beginning of the program will be subject to an administrative fee of $150.
  • **Please note that multi-season programs will be subject to this same policy, effective to the beginning of the first season.

BCN Sports Services Canada reserves the right to pursue legal action to recover any monies owing.
